Have A Question?

The Perfect Match

When we look for a job, it's a bit like doing a search to find our ideal partner. In love and at work, we must know each other well in order to determine the elements that will make us both happy. It is important to make an inventory of our needs and to do our research on a company before even applying to a position.

Step 1: Establish Your Criteria

Even before you start looking for the ideal partner it is important that you determine what matters to you. The same goes for conducting a job search. Some questions to ask yourself:

  • In what work environment am I likely to be the most productive and happy?
  • Under what type of management do I respond best?
  • Do I prefer to work alone or as part of a team?
  • What are my personal values? the company?
  • What are the values of the organization? To find out, you need to do some research.

Step 2: Business Research

You’ve established your criteria, and now it's now time to learn about the selected companies to make sure they’re a good fit for you. For those who know dating sites, you will also know that social media may help us to better identify potential partners. Do the same for any business under consideration. Most companies have a Facebook or LinkedIn page - check them out. If you know people who work in these companies, contact them for information. Read reviews on Glassdoor, including MD Financial Management.(https://www.glassdoor.ca/Overview/Working-at-MD-Financial-Management-EI_IE396035.11,34.htm ). Get as much information as possible about the organization. Be ready!

Step 3: Your application

Did you read everything there was to read about the selected company? Are you ready to take the next step? It’s now time to express your interest. The visual is the first thing that one notices: update your resume, make it attractive, and be creative in your presentation. Know your strengths, values and interests (see step 1) and ensure you highlight them. You will only have one chance to make a good impression - do not miss it! You want to be remembered for the right reasons.

Step 4: Meeting

The employer has just responded to you, and you now have an interview. Wear your best outfit, give the best you have, and most importantly, stay yourself. When you wait at the reception, analyze the interactions between colleagues and get a feel for the atmosphere of the workplace. Center and ask yourself if you are feeling well. This introduction is the right time to learn more about the organization, so ask questions, be interested in the company, and get the most out of this meeting. The employer will do the same in order to determine if you could be the perfect match.

Step 5: The journey

You both like what you saw and heard in the meeting - great! Like any successful relationship, it is not without effort, and requires work on both sides. If both are willing to invest the time and energy to work together, you are putting every chance for success on your side. With a great attitude, an open mind and will, you have the recipe for success. I wish you an amazing journey!
