On Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Ottawa, MD and CMA partnered with Habitat for Humanity to support low-income families.
MD Financial Management gives generously to the United Way, and more than a third of the MD staff is directly involved in our annual campaign. We also encourage our employees to direct their funds to the communities and causes that are close to their hearts by leveraging the United Way’s network of charitable organizations. MD and its employees also support the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Red Cross and the Canadian Medical Foundation.
In addition to corporate support, we leverage an internal social intranet to promote charities which our employees support. Our employees are committed to giving back to their local communities, and we’re honored to provide them both the avenue to build this much-needed support and the time required to fully participate.
Across Canada, in our 54 regional offices, employees give generously to local causes, including food banks, emergency shelters, dragon boat races, fundraising runs and many more.
In 2010, we introduced a program entitled Leave for Change that gives employees the opportunity to participate in a volunteer assignment in a developing country. The Leave for Change program has been a strong success, with 12 volunteers from MD contributing their talents to development projects around the world.
We are committed to a sustainable environment. We have a green procurement strategy, practise energy reduction advocacy, and follow in-house waste reduction programs.
In 2015, the Canada Green Building Council awarded LEED® Gold Status for Commercial Interiors to the redesigned MD head office in Ottawa and the MD regional office in Edmonton. The LEED rating system is recognized worldwide as the gold standard for green building design. From reduced energy and water use to indoor environmental quality, these MD offices are models of environmental sustainability.
