Samar Sidhu, VP, Managing Director & Head of MD Financial Management (MD), is passionate about shaping MD’s strategic direction with a clear focus: delivering enhanced value to Canada’s physicians and their families while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the business. Under his leadership, MD continues to foster a purpose-driven, physician-first culture that deepens client relationships and creates exceptional experiences. Dedicated to preserving MD’s legacy of serving physicians, Samar is equally committed to building an environment where employees feel inspired to build lifelong careers — a hallmark of MD’s enduring success.

With more than 20 years of experience in Financial Services and Wealth Management, Samar is known for his strategic vision and client-first approach, driving exemplary results for the business and stakeholders alike. Since joining Scotiabank in 2011, he has held progressively senior roles, beginning in Global Banking and Markets in Equity Research before moving into Corporate Development, where he led several transformative acquisitions for the Bank across Canada and internationally. Following Scotiabank’s acquisition of MD, Samar played a pivotal role in strengthening the connection between MD and Scotia Wealth Management through innovative partnership opportunities.

Holding the CFA designation, an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Engineering from McMaster University, Samar combines deep technical knowledge with a passion for empowering both teams and clients. As he leads MD into its next chapter — focused on growth, stability and long-term impact — Samar remains committed to innovation, collaboration and delivering exceptional value to physicians and their families.
