Quartile rankings are a measurement of how a mutual fund performs when compared to other funds within the same competitive universe. The Investment Funds Standards Committee defines peer groups. BellCharts produces the rankings (1st quartile best-4th quartile lowest). Quartile rankings are available from Morningstar who can be contacted at www.morningstar.ca.

The funds that existed at that date were only responsible for payment of the management fee, brokerage fees and taxes. Effective October 1, 1994, such funds assumed responsibility for the payment of all expenses related to the preparation and distribution of public disclosure documents, custodial fees, audit fees and meetings of security holders. Effective June 1, 1996, the annual management fee for MD Balanced Fund, MD Dividend Fund, MD Equity Fund, MD Growth Fund, MD Select Fund and MD US Equity Fund increased by 0.25%. Had this change been in effect throughout the above measurement periods, fund performance would have decreased. This change does not apply to the MD Income Fund.
